You can have the chance to study several modules in addition to the core topics. Option modules will not be pre-selected for you. We give option module samples. Certain option modules may not always be available every year. 

The offer of an option will be subject to a minimum number of international students choosing the module to guarantee a proper student experience. The offer modules may also impact the staff availability. It means we cannot guarantee the availability of a particular optional module.

From Teaching 

At Canterbury Christ Church University, every module includes a combination of workshops, seminars, lectures, and practical sessions. In normal modules, we will spend more than half of our time with international students in practical sessions, typically two-thirds of the module contact time, because the emphasis is always on practical and applied skills development.  

We also supply and curate extra guided and structured learning tools for international students. You will also have time set aside for self-directed learning. The number of hours spent teaching in person each week may vary, although it usually ranges between 10 and 16 hours. You may have up to 24-30 contact hours per week during intensive weeks in some modules. 

From Independent Study 

Modules offer a range of self-directed learning resources that we have selected and organized for you. This could include reading chapters from a textbook, watching videos, or reviewing research articles before or after an in-person meeting. You may communicate with other students or academics in different ways, such as by posting comments or participating in online conversations. 

Academic Input 

Typically, academics lead in-person seminars; our goal is to instruct and assist you. Occasionally, you may receive specialized sessions and learn from industry professionals or guest lecturers. In certain of our IT workshops or laboratory and field practicals, PhD students will assist you in addition to the professor conducting the event.
